2. Flatten:   Use 1-2 levels of hierarchy in button navigation design & avoid linking within the website (e.g. use 5-7 main buttons with drop downs).

3. Name It:   Entitle your URL and site name, company name & sitemap meta page names with meaningful keywords and avoid “clever”
(e.g. www.hatstobuy.com, Hats to Buy, Inc., Contact Us to Buy Hats not www.funkcity.com, Funk City, Inc., Contact).

4. Explain It:   Enter a few meaningful keywords in the sitemap meta description of the page (e.g. We sell cowboy hats, baseball caps and touques).

5. Map It:  Make sure you always create a new XML Sitemap each time you update your website for the search engines.

6. Tag It:  In the body of the page content name your page with meaningful keywords (e.g. Welcome to We Sell Hats - Contact Us vs. no title, a flash module or photos with no textual description).

7. Complete It: Fill the body of content out with matching keywords to describe the page content in more detail.  Keep this content fresh - update often.

8. Add Relevant Links Slowly:   Continue at a normal pace to add links to your site by other associates, industry forums, blogs, social networking, etc.

9.  Analyze your Results:  Use Google Analytics, Yahoo! Site Explorer & Xinu - for free diagnostics.
